About Advantage®

AdvantageŽ - This product is applied topically directly onto your pet.  It comes supplied with a set of applicator tubes containing the medication.

Each tube containing the liquid medication is emptied behind the pet's neck between the shoulder blades in one spot.  Application is done on a monthly basis for flea control in both cats and dogs.  The pet must be dry in order to apply AdvantageŽ. AdvantageŽ is not absorbed into the system.

AdvantageŽ  works to migrate along the oil layer of the skin, binding to this layer, and acts as a barrier against the flea.  When fleas come into contact with AdvantageŽ, it acts to repel the flea before having a chance to bite the pet.  Contact with the AdvantageŽ  by the flea will eventually cause it to die.

This product works for both dogs and cats, and kittens and puppies 8 weeks of age or older.

Bathing the pet after application, can reduce the effectiveness of AdvantageŽ.  One or two baths spaced out over the month however,  should not greatly reduce Advantage's effect.

If your pet is allergic to fleas, this product is a good choice, as the flea does not bite the pet prior to being repelled.  Therefore the pet is not exposed to the flea's saliva which is the cause of the flea allergy.

Check with your veterinarian for recommendations on what's best for your pet.
